Now is when stores are trying to clearance and clean out their winter inventory. Now is the time to see what your child will need for next season! The most common excuse I have heard not to do this is that parents don’t know if the child will be one or two sizes bigger by next year. Buy 2 sizes! Or both? Because they are up to 75% off, if not more, even buying 2 of the same item, in different sizing still saves a lot of money! I was able to score 12 items for about $24 at Kmart the other day. That is less than I will pay at the thrift store and I was able to get the sizes we need rather than rummaging through endless colors and sizing hoping to find one that will work for my kids. If you prefer online shopping at like Gymboree, Children’s Place, and Old Navy- remember the ebates tip!
By (Buy?) applying this tip, I have been able to completely clothe our children for a fraction of the cost, for certain seasons or mostly clothe them so that I only need a few items when that season comes around. When you have a clothing budget of $500 a year, for a family of soon-to-be-7, buying ahead becomes essential!
